ADX hosts almost 500 members of varying levels including basic community participants, unlimited shop pass holders as well as business and industry members. Since opening in June 2011, we have facilitated a number of amazing fabrication projects from many of Portlands most influential designers and makers alongside new work from emerging talent. We have also established a wide network of local enthusiasts eager to participate in and support our endeavors. Our team is ever expanding and always re-imagining how to meet new challenges in the constantly-growing city we share and love.

Description:
Scribble out an idea, consider its brilliance, then ball it up and throw it away. Or maybe not. Take us--William Weinstein and associates. At Portlands Center Of Excellence we believe no idea is too small. Just like no idea is a bad idea until proven otherwise. And an idea without execution is merely hallucination. At the Center of Excellence, we turn dreams into marketable products. We founded our business in Portland, Oregon; the sports footwear and apparel capital of the world and center of the emergence of new sustainable technologies. When we started talking to people about our ideas, something interesting happened. A confluence of interests that sparked a determination in us to use all the resources Portland has to offer to the global marketplace. Portland has long been a pioneer in the sports industry and is quickly evolving into the development hub for innovative and sustainable technologies. Internationally based firms headquartered here have drawn talent from all over the world. Sure, we know a big company has big resources. But entrepreneurs, and even small to mid-sized businesses, often lack those tools, which is why so many drawings get balled up and thrown away. We knew Portland had sophisticated and creative talent. We also knew that Portland lacked a support system that entrepreneurs and small to mid-sized businesses could tap into. Until now, that is.

Overview: The main focus of our accelerator is the incubation of early stage startups in the Eugene Oregon area. Although we welcome all startups, we have a bio technology focus (due in part to the lab space that we have set up). We are very early in the process of defining what our space will be as we started it only 8 months ago. We will continue to refine our approach as we are better able to determine the needs of our community.

Overview: Starve Ups was founded on October 15, 2000 by a group of seven start up companies as a non-profit organization dedicated to helping founders of start ups create successful sustainable businesses via optimized peer mentoring. In attendance were the founde

Description:
Since the founding all 7 of these companies reached profitability, 6 became multimillion dollar revenue generators, 2 have been acquired for positive investor returns and 1 became an Inc. 500 company. All 7 companies included 1st time founders of start ups.

A greater explanation is that Starve Ups is an exclusive founders-only group serving idea and early stage entrepreneurs who provide each other their insights, resources and networks at no cost in order to provide peer mentoring at the highest level. In turn Starve Ups is a virtual incubator and accelerator with its cornerstone as peer mentoring, which is exactly what Starve Ups stands for, excels at and focuses on as a group.

It is simple; the end-to-end educational approach and purpose of Starve Ups is to get each of our membership companies to: 1) survive the first 18 to 36 months, 2) thrive into profitability and expansion, and 3) strive for their positive exit or existence strategy.
